Part-2

Today, Bhandare was not getting any story. So he tried to eavesdrop the neighbour and find something. Then he thought that it would not be proper because he should remain in the good book of the neighbor. So he came out of the house where he saw Gautam Kumar ‘Garoor’ who has been trying hard to become a renowned poet since last many years.

Bhandare asked – Why have you adopted this weired sobriquet as ‘Garoor’?

The poet explained -  I had actually adopted this sobriquet as a symbol of pride (i.e. garoor in Hindi) as the possession of pride is the funamental feature of a poet. If you become proud of yourself unreasonably and can also wear a set of Kurta-payjama it means you best qualify to be a poet. All other features like knowledge of words and having some ideas come thereafter.

Bhandare could not resist himself and screamed-  Fantastic!  

The poet further said that when some people cautioned him that there was actually a negative connotation  of ‘garoor’ and it was against the humbleness that is required for a literary person he was highly perplexed. For expert  advice he went to a “literary critique” who advised him for a minor change – ‘garoor’ should be “gair-ur” means heart for others.

And from that day he became a renowned poet of sorts.

आज भंडारे को कोई कहानी मिल रही थी। इसलिए उन्होंने पड़ोसी के दरवाजे से सटकर चुपचाप सुनने की कोशिश की। तब उन्होंने सोचा कि यह उचित नहीं होगा क्योंकि उसे पड़ोसी के  साथ अच्छे रिश्ते बनाये रखना  चाहिए। इसलिए वे उस घर से बाहर निकले जहां उन्होंने गौतम कुमार ’गरूर’ को देखा  जो पिछले कई सालों से एक प्रसिद्ध कवि बनने की कोशिश कर रहे थे।

भंडारे ने पूछा - आप ने यह विचित्र उपनाम ‘गरूर’ क्यों  रखा  है?

कवि ने समझाया - मैंने वास्तव में गर्व के प्रतीक के रूप में इस उपनाम को अपनाया था (यानी हिंदी में ‘अभिमान’ क्योंकि   अभिमानी  होना कवि की असली विशेषता होती है। यदि आप खुद पर बेहिसाब घमंड करते हैं और कुर्ता-पायजामा का एक सेट भी पहन सकते हैं तो इसका मतलब है कि आप एक कवि होने के लिए सबसे योग्य हैं। अन्य सभी सुविधाएँ जैसे शब्दों का ज्ञान और कुछ विचार आना उसके बाद खुद-ब-खुद हो जाते हैं।

भंडारे खुद का विरोध नहीं कर सके और चिल्ला उठे- शानदार!

कवि ने आगे कहा कि जब कुछ लोगों ने उन्हें आगाह किया था कि वास्तव में ‘गरूर’ ’का नकारात्मक अर्थ है और यह उस विनम्रता के खिलाफ है जो एक साहित्यिक व्यक्ति द्वारा अपेक्षित है तो वे परेशान हो गए। विशेष सलाह के लिए वे एक "साहित्यिक आलोचक" के पास गए, जिन्होंने उन्हें एक मामूली बदलाव के लिए सलाह दी – ‘गरूर’ को “गैर-उर” कर  दो  यानी “दूसरों के लिए दिल”।

और उसी दिन से वे एक प्रसिद्ध कवि बन गए।

Part-1

Bhandare was thinking that though his name is Bhandare he is actually the most empty person

in this world. He lived in a downtown area that hardly qualified to be a town. Though his mohalla Kachaudiganj fell in a ward of a municipal corporation the mindsets of the people were still seeking their roots in some aboriginal age.  

Though Bhandare appeared innumerable times for the competitive recruitment exams he never qualified even in the prelims for clerical cadre. So he began to run some tuition classes at his home and because of his meager income no father of his caste or other was ready to give his daughter as bride to him so he was bachelor even while approaching 39.  But he had ambition to become a celebrity so he won the favour of a  zerox service provider for the most affordable rate for 20 copies. He divided the total cost price by 20 and thought to bear the losses for unsold copies if any. And thus, he  started to publish a daily newspaper describing the happenings in his mohalla. (This column will present some glimpse of the highlighted story on daily basis.)

भंडारे सोच रहा था कि हालांकि उनका नाम भंडारे है लेकिन वे वास्तव में इस दुनिया में सबसे खाली व्यक्ति हैं। वह शहर के उस इलाके में रहते थे जो शायद ही कोई कस्बा हो। हालाँकि उसका मुहल्ला कचौड़ीगंज नगर निगम के एक वार्ड में पड़ता था, लेकिन लोगों की मानसिकता अभी भी किसी आदिवासी युग में अपनी जड़ें तलाश रही थी।

हालांकि भंडारे प्रतिस्पर्धी भर्ती परीक्षाओं के लिए असंख्य बार उपस्थित हुए लेकिन उन्होंने लिपिक संवर्ग के प्रारम्भिक परीक्षा में भी उत्तीर्ण नहीं किया। इसलिए उन्होंने अपने घर पर कुछ ट्यूशन क्लासेस चलाना शुरू कर दिया और उनकी मामूली आय के कारण उनकी जाति का कोई भी पिता या अन्य अपनी बेटी को दुल्हन के रूप में देने के लिए तैयार नहीं था, इसलिए वे 39 साल की उम्र में भी कुंवारा थे। लेकिन उनकी महत्वाकांक्षा थी कि वो कोई नामचीन शख्स बनें इसलिए उसने 20 प्रतियों के लिए सबसे सस्ती दर के लिए एक जेरोक्स करनेवाले को तैयार किया। उसने कुल लागत मूल्य को 20 से विभाजित किया और नहीं बिकनेवाली प्रतियों के नुकसान को वहन करने के लिए सोचा. इस तरह उसने किसी ने अपने मुहल्ले में होने वाली घटनाओं का वर्णन करने वाले दैनिक समाचार पत्र को प्रकाशित करना शुरू किया। (यह कॉलम प्रतिदिन दिन-प्रतिदिन की घटनाओं की झलक पेश करेगा।)
