"कराह उठता है" और अन्य कविताएँ / कवि -प्रभात सरसिज ("He groans" and other poems by Prabhat Sarsij with translation in English)

Some Latest Poems by Prabhat Sarsij
These poems have been composed by this veteran poet in 2019

He groans

FB+ Today Bejod India)

Poetry does not remain a henchman
Of a poet for centuries
Poets simply speak it's words and
Words just fly off like a cloud.

Only at the behest of words
The sun milks the water reservoirs of a continent
Making them a milch cow
It's only at the prompt of the words
That the dark clouds pours down the water mass
On the valleys of some other continent
Dictators keep staring at words
Awestruck and helplessly.

When Words somehow speak out loudly
It shivers for many centuries
And just leaving alone the poets
The poems revolve around planets
They fly kite treating 'Big Dipper' as the same
It they feel like so, reaching the bottom of the earth
They bang on the sides of gold and silver reserves.

The poet's memories
Just take rest in the shadow of a hill's rock and
Dance for millennia on a favourite tune

When the words of the poem are in anger
The lightnings fall
A tyrant groans under an unbearable pain
Of its own manipulations.

This Day

With my eyelashes
I tickled the nose tip of the beloved house
Of my beloved housemaker
From my lips
I titillated the covers of her ears

I saw a revolving earth
In the eyeballs of the beloved homemaker lady
Then taking the bowl of decoction
Of basil and pepper
From her hands
And touched it with my lips

The shared minds indicated to each other
That even this day
Will be flooded with joy of labor.
----------

Beating the centuries

Today, the beloved homemaker
Could not find ashes from the stove
Not even half the dishes could be cleaned
She explored many centuries
The ashes were missing
Large number of utensils were lying there too

Layers of sadness on her cheeks
Were quite visible
The eyes were overflowing
With the water of a sea.

She kneaded flour on a hoe
Putting fingers in her chest
Set fire

Taking out the wood from the hoe
She lighted the stove
And cooked a bread
Placing it before me
With salt and onion on a leaf-plate
Served food

The whole face of the beloved homemaker
was shining
Beating the centuries
Her face was filled with joy.

Children's Day at Malad (Mumbai) on 14.11.2019 : Let's Puppet and Book Distribution

Moments with rowdy candid kids

(View it after every 12 hrs - FB+ Today Bejod India)

Even if a dozen of men or women gather at a place it is a group but if there are more than one kid at a place, it's essentially a crowd. Their unruliness, rowdiness treat every piece of land and space as their subjugated territory. And of course whosoever enters their territory are their subject who must try to meet their irrational and cynical demands.

Initially the gathering of 65 children at CLAP centre of Malad (Mumbai) on 14.11.2019 must have been something as such. But surprisingly when the puppet show started all of the kids turned into the most sober sort of little gentlemen totally in a "Do Not Disturb" mode.

To make the Children's Day more vibrant, unique and eventful I planned to visit Malad (Mumbai) on 14.11.2019.  At the first floor of the building Solitaire-II opp. to Infinity Mall there is a CLAP Center, a cultural business center that pays full attention to children's grooming in the sphere of art and culture.

There was a small screen just of a size of a big TV screen put in front of the of more than 60 people most of them being kids and their parents. A number of interesting tales were presented through puppet show and shadow puppet show. The artists were well trained and so the show was flawless which succeeded in connecting psyche of the children to it's deliverable. Surprisingly there was total silence throughout the show of half an hour and I came to know more by the children's sounds when the show ended.

Then after a break of ten minutes another class started in which the kids and children learnt how to make puppets. Various customised materials were provided to each of them and there were instructors to teach and help in making puppets. This class ran for 45  minutes. The mothers of the kids were also seen interested in learning this skill.

After the end of the show I talked with Tarun, the event manager who said that there is presently only one centre of this kind and they wand to make more franchisee partners. Founded by Misti Verma and Faisal Poonawalla this centre is making confident strides towards expansion in  the art and culture space.

Thanks to Tarun Rawal and his team for introducing me with their centre.
........

Just downstairs was a Book Distribution program in full swing. That event had been organised by "Crime and corruption control association". The workers were not willing to give more info about their organisation at that moment as they were busy with their work. Though it was evident that hundred or more slum-dwelling children were present at this event and were very happy for this. There were also smiles on the mothers and fathers of the children who were standing at nearby corners of the main spot of activity.

The children chanted some prayers and slogans on this occasion. It was really energizing to watch the less privileged children getting books as their gift on the Children's Day.

Stagetalk@Prithvi: Khurana Family : a meetup on 8.11.2019 at Andheri (Mumbai) with a family devoted to theatre and film

Khurana family talks all about theatre

(View it after every 12 hrs - FB+ Today Bejod India)

Nasiruddin Shah, the icon of Hindi cinema and one who also acted in the first play of Prithvi Theatre "Udhwasta Dharmashala" (in 1978 with Om Puri and Benjamin Gilani) was present at the site once again in 2019. His wife Ratna Pathak (sister of Surpiya Pathak) was also with him.

A stagetalk was shot at the adjacent building of Prithvi Theatre, Andheri (Mumbai) where the five members of Khurana family well known  for their works in theatre and films participated. A lady anchor asked questions about their journey in theatre and films and each of them answered.

Akash Kurana is a well known character-role actor and screenplay writer in films. He has written or co-authored  screenplays of  many of the popular Hindi films including  of 'Ashiqi", ' Baajigar'. He has also played character roles in a large number of popular Hindi films. like Ardh Satya, Saaransh, Naam, Beta, Saudagar, Sarfarosh, Company and Barfii.  He said that he graduated from XLRI and served in various top-notch companies like Tata Motors for many years. He also worked for companies in hospitality and entertainment industry. And then got inclined towards theatre and films. He also worked with the famous director Sunil  Shanbag (The Unknown General), Satyadev Dubey (Abe Bewakoof) etc in 1970s. He shared his vast experience in theatre and revealed that his first performance in theatre was made when he was just in Std. 3. He passed through many ups and downs in theatre but got along with his passion in acting and direction. He also applauded the contribution of Shashi Kapoor and Jeniffer in Hindi theatare and remembered how they established Prithvi Theatre .

Prithvi Theatre in the present form was starated n 1978 by Shashi Kapoor and his wife Jenifer Kapoor in memory of father Prithviraj Kapoor. Earlier it was titled as "Prithvi Theatre workshop" where only 20-30 people used to sit but later when the theatre-lovers began to come in large number, it was given a shape of proper auditorium with the state-of-the-art facilities and paraphernalia. Both of Kapoors loved it deeply and watched almost every production of it till their death.

Meera Khurana, the wife of Akash Khurana said that though people used to say earlier "What you people are doing? Earning from other fields and wasting money in theatre?" But later even the theatre works reached a level of self-sufficiency. Meera Khurana has directed some of the plays and has also acted in a few of them.

Akarsh Kurana talked at length about his work in theater and films. He has directed and screenplay writer of 'Kaarwaan'.  He is also known for his screenplay of 'Krisss' directed by Rakaesh Roshan and is presently writing for a film by Ajay Devadan. His wife Dilshad Khurana, mother Meera Khurana, father Akash Khurana and brother Adhar Khurana agreed that he is the best director among them.

Adhaar Khurana was straight in saying that he was sort of averse to theatre in the beginning. One of the reasons he mentioned was interesting. He said that he used to find that in every play, his father is going to die so he disliked all of such plays. After gaining maturity he generated some interest for theatre but remained attached primarily with films only. His acting has been appreciated in films titled as  Ghoul (2018), Karwaan (2018) and High Jack (2018).

Dilshad Khurana also talked about her works in theatre and that she has directed in some of the plays and have also acted in many of others.

The lady anchor was conducting the talk in very cordial manner and did not interrupt if some of the interviewee was speaking something. She framed questioned in a manner to let the Khuranas speak their hearts out. The talk was held in a formal setup where all of the six participants were sitting in the chair in a semi-circle while the camera and lights were on. But as the photographpy by others was not allowed at that time so all the photos presented here are of just after the end of the talk show.

At he end of the talk show, the legendary actor Nasiruddin Shah was also seen on the spot with his wife who had come to act in a play at the Prithvi Theatre Festival and  also greeted the Khurana family.

Also a few photographs can be seen at the end of this article in which a young musician wasv performing with his team in open premises of Prithvi Theatre while the Khurana's talk was over.

Brothers and sisters! Unite / Poet - Hemant Behera ( भाई-बहन एक हो जाओ / कवि - हेमन्त बेहेरा)

( View it after every 12 hrs - FB+ Today Bejod India)

Son and daughter of Hemant Behara
Happy Bhatri-dwitjya!

Brothers and sisters! Unite
Today's the day when you forget all your fights.

Sisters, go tie a rakhi around your brother's wrist
Brothers, bless them, your sisters,
And promise to always be their saviors and protectors.

Today's the day you renew your bond,
That with each day grows strong.

For what fun is it without siblings,
Without the fights and all the quarreling?

But brothers and sisters need not share the same blood,
They can be anyone, anywhere in the world.

Just tie a rakhi to you want your brother to be :
This brothers-sisters bond you share for eternity

IPPL, Mumbai Chapter presented "Different Strokes" - poem recital by young poets in Mumbai on 20.10.2019

Defeated by love at first sight.

( View it after every 12 hrs - FB+ Today Bejod India)

Diversity is the essence of democracy and the stance on it can be best taken on the front of language. Love and friendship regain their strength whenever a verse is written. All the human beings on this earth have the same feelings. . Language is just a vehicle to carry the feelings that are invariably the same for the whole humankind.

And looking at our country, hundreds of popular languages exist here and all of them contain the stamp of Indian ethos and culture. Until and unless we come across this diversity at one platform how can we appreciate the singularity of this Indianness  in the plurality of the languages?  And the endeavour of IPPL Mumbai Chapater (Intercultural Poetry and Performance Library) must be applauded in  this pious objective.

The first event of IPPL (Intercultural Poetry and Performance Library) Mumbai Chapter took place on the 20th of October, 2019 at the Library of The Club, Andheri in Mumbai.  The event was titled as  "Different Strokes- Poems by the young and young at heart”.

The Founder and President of IPPL Mumbai Chapter, Dr. Paramita Mukherjee Mullick in her welcome address described how she started this chapter.

One more attraction was Tejus Coulagi a young poet who also anchored the event very deftly. It was a multilingual poetry session with poems in Maithili, Hindi, Telegu, Marathi, Kutchi, Gujrati, Avadhi, Brijbhasha, Bengali and English. There was a line of wonderful poets, Bhaskar jha, Shashi Dhambare, Aarti Saiya, Rajeev Mishra , Mohan Krishna and Akshay Sonthalia.

Shashi Dhambare' s Marathi poems were full of emotions. Avadhi and Brijbhasha poems sung by Rajeev Mishra were a hit. Mohan read out his Telegu poems and Akshay Sonthalia his English ones. Tejus requested Dr.Paramita to read a Bengali poem and he himself read his English ones. The VP of IPPL Mumbai Chapter Dr. Shamira Abdulla talked about the importance of multilingual poetry sessions in promoting poetry.

Shashi Dhambare' s Marathi poems were full of emotions. Avadhi and Brijbhasha poems sung by Rajeev Mishra were a hit. Mohan read out his Telegu poems and Akshay Sonthalia his English ones. Tejus requested Dr.Paramita to read a Bengali poem.

Hemant Das 'Him' of Bejod India blog was also present in this event.

Here we are presenting in full or parts, the poems read by the poets -

R.J. Aarti saiya "Hiranshi" read her Gujarati and Kuchchhi poem. Given below is the part of her Kuchchhi poem-

Paan made kutchhi ainyun
Khari bhom ne mandhe min me pan
Methhi boli k pokhindhal ainyun

Saiya read one more poem in Gujarati-
Matru bhasha ni aarti
Aaje utarun matru bhasha ni aarti
Matru bhashi shalao ni Aarti shikshako Ne Shikshikao Ni Aarti
Valio ni Aarti
vidhyarthio ne vidhyarthiniyo ni Aarti
matru bhashi ganvesh Prarthana Ane Pratigya Ni Aarti
Jethi gad gade Gira Gurjari bhom Bharti
Aaje utarun matru bhasha ni aarti

Tejus Coulagi read an English love poem that really suited the title of the event "Different Stroke" The whole poem is presented below-
Out of the closet, into the street

The phone starts to ring
The alarm starts to beep
I get my costume out of the closet
And get into the street

Some new super villain
Is terrorizing the town
So I rush to its center
To take the monster down

As I get to ground zero
I see smoke, dust and cars
I see a crash landed rocketship
Has this villain come from Mars?

I look out for a giant tentacle
I scan the scene for a nefarious claw
I announce my presence in a loud voice
"I command you to stop in the name of the law!"

And then I see the villain
Just look at that face
She turns to me and smiles
Freezing my heart in place

And so this intrepid hero
Here for a big fight
Finds he's lost before he even started

Defeated by love at first sight.

Then there was Bhaskar Jha, a miraculously dynamic tri-lingual poet. He read his poems in Hindi and Maithili . Hindi Poem (तुम्हारे न होने से) by Bhaskar Jha was s a surrealistic expression of romantic longing of loving life sublimated in form of a soothing creativity with a tone melancholy; with philosophical insights into love-filled life. This is in fact in a tone of melancholy-

Maithili poem - (भाव नीक राखू स्वभाव नीक राखू) is an exhortation calling upon the people to have good heart and sound mind in the world. In this world of variety and complexities everything is futile and transient except the purity of heart, serenity of mind and ethos of humanity with social-moral mores, values and ideals.
Maithili poem by Bhaskar Jha

Akash Naik presented his Gujarati poem whose picture is given below-

The Vice President Dr.Shamira Abdulla talked about how multilingual poetry events promote poetry. The young Krisha Shah one of the coordinators in her vote of thanks expressed  how Dr.Paramita has worked hard to bring all the poets together and make this event a success.
