इश्क किया मगर हम अंजाम तक न पहुँच

I kept on moving but never reached a halt

I too fell in love though without any result

हम भी मुहब्बत के मयखाने तो गए

हाथ बढ़ाया मगर जाम तक न पहुँचे

I too entered in pub of love-making

Still, for hands, reaching goblet was difficult

दो दिलों के ऊपर ये कैसी बंदिशें

कि सीता भी अपने राम तक न पहुँचे

Even a Sita cannot reach to her Rama

Many were the constraints with a couple adult

दौलत के तराजू पर तुल गया ये दिल

पर नीलामी के ऊँचे दाम तक न पहुँचे

The heart was there weighed with mammon

It was beyond my reach, pricing was occult

कहीं पहुँचने को ही दिन भर चले क्दम

अपनी मंजिल तक पर शाम तक न पहुँचे.

To achieve a feat I took a lakh steps

Nothing got till nightfall sans the insult.
