खट्टी-मीठी यादें देकर हायन अंतर्ध्यान हो रहा

Giving sweet and sour memories,  the year is passing by

खट्टी-मीठी यादें देकर हायन अंतर्ध्यान हो रहा
यहीं कहीं तुम छिपी हुई हो, ऐसा रह-रह भान हो रहा
 (हायन = वर्ष, साल)
Giving sweet and sour memories,  the year is passing by
My beloved is here somewhere, it seems true,  not lie

सपना देखा है मैंने इक, सपना यह सच हो जाए
तुम मेरे गीतों की गरिमा, मै तेरी मुस्कान हो रहा
I have dreamt something and it might come true
You are pride of my songs and your smile is I

बेटा-बेटी और स्वयं हम अलग-अलग सुर में गाते हैं
धीरे-धीरे अपना घर है पूरा हिंदुस्तान हो रहा
Son, daughter and we ourselves,  drifting apart in home
Every abode is an India or being so it does try

सारी शिक्षा व्यर्थ हो गयी, श्रम निकला इक खोटा सिक्का
चाकर बना नहीं तो निसदिन मर्दित अपना मान हो रहा
All learning went in vain, labour is counterfeit coin
If refused to be a valet, he’ll be crushed upon to die

पहले 'विजय' गजल कहते थे तेरे प्यार की महिमा में
अब उनके गीतों में जीवन का हर सच संधान हो रहा
Earlier ‘Vijay’ used to write poems in praise of love
Now harsh realities of life is what his songs cry.
